A celebration of all things handmade, our Firsthand campaign offers a behind-the-scenes look at the passion and the craft of makers from around the world who share Benromach’s approach, philosophy and values.

In our latest collaboration, we’ve partnered with artisan maker Valérie Defix from LeWORKSHOP, Paris. To get a firsthand perspective of our how the distillery works, Valérie travelled to Forres to meet with our Production Manager, Murdo, and Visitor Centre Manager, Susan for a tour and tasting. Inspired by her visit, Valerie returned to Paris to create a photo-realistic interpretation of the distillery made using leather which was carefully layered and applied by hand.

The picture is now proudly on display in our distillery tasting room so that all of our visitors can experience this one-of-a-kind handmade piece of art.

“One thing I didn't realise was that there were so many manual steps that go into the process of making whisky, and in that aspect it's very similar to working with leather, for instance hand-stitching to bring the piece to life. What I like also is that it can't be rushed.” Valerie Defix
