After an initial maturation period the whisky is transferred into Spanish oak casks from the Pedro Ximenez soleras of Williams & Humbert and 'finished' for a further 30 months. The history of Bodegas Williams & Humbert goes back nearly 130 years. They participated in the creation of the Jerez-Xérès-Brandy Quality Demarcation and are now considered to be one of the world's most prestigious wine producers.

Tasting Note

AROMA without water

A subtle ash note is followed by a fruity edge with hints of ripe peaches. Some delicate fresh mint notes linger.

TASTE without water

Defined spices - cinnamon. Hints of almond are infused with sweet influences and creamy textures.

AROMA with water

Fresh with toasted malt notes. Hints of ripe banana and delicate esters emerge. A defined Sherry influence develops.

TASTE with water

Creamy and sweet with delicate spices. The palate is well rounded and balanced.

Benromach

Established in 1898 the distillery experienced many closures and changes of ownership prior to 1993 when malt whisky specialists, Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. After being extensively re-equipped, Benromach was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998. Just two experienced distillers create Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach Distillery for many years.
