After an initial maturation period the whisky is transferred into Madeira casks where it was allowed to mature for a further 48 months. Limited to just 3,000 bottles this Speyside Single malt is initially spicy and mouth warming, and becomes more mellow with a heavy sweetness lingering in the background.

Tasting Note

AROMA without water

Pronounced spice, sweet and floral notes. Reminiscent of a Madeira cake. Delicate wood influences interlaced with a hint of vanilla.

TASTE without water

Initially spicy and mouth warming. Becoming more mellow with a heavy sweetness lingering.

AROMA with water

A prominent sweetness, with a delicate smoky influences and some spice.

TASTE with water

Mouth watering, with a sweet smoky influence. A very subtle spice lingers in the background.

Benromach

Established in 1898 the distillery experienced many closures and changes of ownership prior to 1993 when malt whisky specialists, Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. After being extensively re-equipped, Benromach was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998. Just two experienced distillers create Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach Distillery for many years.
