At Benromach small batches of whisky have been produced using the finest malted barley, dried using high levels of peat smoke. Distilled from malted barley with a phenol level of 35ppm this fifth batch of Benromach Peat Smoke has been matured in Refill American Hogsheads for many years. The resultant Single Malt is seriously smoky yet it retains the elegance and fruitiness of Benromach.

AROMA without water

Initial hints of tropical fruits, with charred oak aromas emerging and a delicate smoky edge lingers.

TASTE without water

Initially warming and mouth watering, with a touch of cracked pepper, a subtle malty edge develops with a defined burst of peat smoke lingering.

AROMA with water

Fresh and malty, with delicate charred oak and bonfire ember notes developing. Fruity with a delicate hint of vanilla.

TASTE with water

Hints of bonfire embers, with a burst of spices. Fruity and sweet, with a fresh herbal edge.

Benromach

Established in 1898 the distillery experienced many closures and changes of ownership prior to 1993 when malt whisky specialists, Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. After being extensively re-equipped, Benromach was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998. Just two experienced distillers create Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach Distillery for many years.
