Benromach Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a race partner of the Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper in the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race.

The race, which set sail from Liverpool on Sunday 16th September 2007 will last ten months and take in 35,000 miles of ocean racing. After clinching third place at the end of Race 1, the Glasgow Scotland with style Clipper was eighth over the line at the start of Race 2 from La Rochelle to Salvador da Bahia in the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race.
The first transatlantic race of the ten-month series started at 1600 local time on Sunday 23rd September in calm conditions. Despite remaining in eighth place as the fleet rounded the final mark and headed out into the Bay of Biscay there is plenty of time for the Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper to move up the fleet with over 4,000 miles of ocean racing before the finish line in Salvador.
Following the light wind and clear skies of the start, the fleet encountered totally different conditions overnight and through the early hours of the morning. As a cold front swept across the Bay of Biscay, the crew encountered rain and winds of 25 knots with occasional gusts of 30 knots. At 12 noon on Monday 24th September 2007, Glasgow had moved into fifth position.
Ahead of Race 2, Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper Skipper Hannah Jenner, said “We put Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper on the podium for the first time and the crew are really fired up. We’d like to do it for a second time and get a nice collection of podium flags.”

On Friday evening, representatives from Benromach hosted a reception onboard the Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper. After entertaining guests with a dram or two of Benromach’s commemorative Latitude 53 bottling, Michael Urquhart, Director at Gordon & MacPhail, owners and proprietors of Benromach Distillery says, “We are delighted with the results for the first race. The crew are very focused and determined and we wish them the very best of luck for the next race.”
