The Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race sets sail from Liverpool on Sunday 16th September 2007. Benromach Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a race partner of the Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper.
To mark the beginning of the 35,000 mile adventure of a lifetime for the crew taking part, representatives from Benromach Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky will be in attendance at Liverpool, offering a number of activities throughout the race start weekend.
Everyone from friends and family of the competing crew to sailing enthusiasts are invited down to the Albert Dock in Liverpool to attend the race start. There will be plenty of viewing areas available along the waterfront from the Albert Dock to the Kings Dock Arena.
On Friday 14th September, visit Oddbins on Castle Street in Liverpool where a tasting of various expressions from the Benromach range will be available. An additional tasting will also be available at Oddbins on Bold Street on Saturday 15th September 2007 from 2.00pm – 4.00pm.
Visitors to the Albert Dock on Saturday 15th September and Sunday 16th September will be invited to challenge their physical strength by participating in the Benromach Cask Strength Challenge. The challenge, which has already been in attendance at a number of events throughout the UK, invites participants to winch a whisky barrel up a ramp in the quickest time possible.
The Clipper fleet commence slipping from pontoons in Albert Dock from 11.30am on Sunday 16th September, and will parade past the spectators at 2.00pm. The ten-minute count down will begin at 2.50pm, before the gun fires at 3.00pm, marking the start of the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race. At the time of the race start there will also be an air display by the BT Yakoleys. |
