Visitors were asked to display their best ‘pulling technique’ over the weekend of the Royal Highland Show (21-24 June) and take part in the Benromach Cask Strength Challenge.
Over 400 people challenged their inner strength as they aimed to winch a Benromach whisky cask to the top of a ramp in the quickest time possible. Competition was fierce, but the champion of the men's competition over the weekend was Martin Stanning from Elgin with a remarkable time of 14.62 seconds. Patricia Hesrock, visiting the Royal Highland Show from France, won the ladies challenge in an impressive time of 26.22 seconds. All participants were asked to donate £1. All proceeds from the Benromach Cask Strength Challenge will be given to the St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie.
