Gordon & MacPhail source malt from a number
of major maltsters throughout Scotland, ensuring we obtain
only the finest malted barley available throughout the year.
Different varieties of malt, such as: Chariot, Golden Promise
and Optic, are all purchased in small batches of 30 tonnes
and peated to our exact specifications. The peating level is
comparable with traditional floor malted barley.
From our past experience of maturing single malt whiskies
for longer periods, we recognised that the finest malt whiskies
in our stock were produced during the times that distilleries
operated traditional floor maltings. Although we do not have
floor maltings at Benromach, we try to ensure the malted barley
we use is similar to floor malted barley. |
