Benromach Lat 55° Single Cask Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been launched. The special commemorative bottling has been produced to mark the partnership of Benromach with the Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper in the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race.
Benromach Lat 55° Single Cask has been named as such because the bottling strength is 55% ABV; representing the same latitude as Glasgow. Bottled from a single sherry cask, this fine single malt is hand selected. The sherry notes complement the rich and elegant character of Speyside.
The launch of the new Benromach expression comes in the wake of the news that the Scottish yacht sits proudly atop the leader board all the end of the first three races as part of the 07-08 Race. The Clipper fleet is currently docked in port in Durban, South Africa, as they make their preparations for the next race to Fremantle, Australia which starts on Sunday 25 November.
Benromach Lat 55° Single Cask is the second bottling released in the Latitude Series. The first latitude bottling, Benromach Lat 53° Single Cask (the bottling strength represents the same latitude as Liverpool), was launched to coincide with the start of the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race from Liverpool on 16th September 2007.
Liverpool was host to the start of the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race. The fleet of yachts will stop at 14 ports en route before returning to Liverpool in July 2008, as part of the City’s European Capital of Culture Celebrations.
La Rochelle was the first port of call for the fleet of yachts, with the Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper clinching third place.
Race 2 from La Rochelle to Salvador da Bahia, the first transatlantic race of the ten-month series, started at 1600 local time on Sunday 23rd September 2007 in calm conditions. After crossing the equator on course to covering more the 4000 miles the Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper clinched second position for this leg.
In an exciting race 3 from Salvador da Bahia to Durban, Glasgow: Scotland with style arrived in the South African port in fourth place but was later promoted to third for a time penalty incurred by one of the preceding yachts.

Each bottle of Benromach Single Cask Lat 55° will come with its own certificate endorsed by William Ward, Chief Executive of Clipper Ventures, Liz Cameron, Vice Chair of Glasgow Marketing Bureau and Keith Cruickshank, Benromach Distillery Manager. Benromach Lat 55° Single Cask will have an RRP of £45.00 - £49.99 and will sell worldwide. Five Pounds from every bottle sold will be donated to the RNLI.
