Award Winning Nose
In
June of this year the 5th Annual International Science
Fair took place, at Moray College, Elgin. The evening co-ordinated
by Ed Dodson, Manager at Glen Moray Distillery, hosted
whisky talks by Alan Winchester (distillery manager at
Aberlour) and Robert Fotherington (SWRI).
Throughout that week the general public
and many wellknown members of the whisky industry, were
invited to take part in an International Nosing Competition,
attempting to match the whisky samples with the correct
name. Each entry cost £1, which was donated to the
'Burghead Headland Trust' charity.
We were all very pleased when Keith Cruickshank,
Distillery Manager at Benromach Distillery won this prestigious
award. Keith correctly identified the 10 whiskies and was
further commended for being the first person in the whisky
industry ever to win the nosing competition.
"It was quite a surprise to win
with such a strong group of experts taking part," said
Keith Cruickshank.
